I offer individual and group tutoring in English, History, writing, reading, grammar, research methods, study skills, and organizational support.
Providing customized instruction based on each student’s needs, goals, and learning style, I believe in making my work with students fun and getting them fully engaged in their learning. My goal is to teach skills that will allow my students to succeed independently. My teaching background in English and History, along with my experience in classrooms from Pre-K through college, allows me to adapt my work to individual students regardless of the content area or their age and educational profile.
A unique feature of the services I offer is the option for online support. By using Skype, Google Drive, and blogging programs, I work with students anywhere they have a computer and an internet connection. Whether you are looking for individual tutoring, reading groups, writing workshops, or study skills support, I can customize a virtual program to meet the unique needs and schedule of your child and your family. I am also happy to travel to your home within the Boston metro area.
My fees vary depending on the type of instruction sought and the needs of the student; the range is from $100-$150 per hour. Please contact me for more information.
“The strategies you’re teaching him are really helping. Seeing improvement and realizing he can do well by putting in the effort has boosted his confidence. That, to me, is most important! A good grade is great but seeing the pride on his face today when he got his paper back made me happy.” -Lauren Sullivan, Milton MA
“Eliza was extremely effective in her work with our middle school age son. With Eliza, he focused on study skills and on how to approach a writing assignment, including structuring an assignment, paragraph construction, crafting arguments and creating effective transitions within a paper. Eliza’s approach was tailored to his learning style and needs. The growth in skill and confidence in approaching writing assignments was evident to us and to him. Through his work with Eliza, our son has built a foundational set of skills that we believe will serve him well not just in the next school year, but through high school and beyond.” -Tisa Hughes, Milton, MA
“Eliza has been a tremendous asset to us during our seven month trip around the world. She provided our daughter with a customized curriculum in English and History that integrated the themes of our trip, our daughter’s interests, and the curricular goals of her school, Winsor. Eliza was flexible and supportive in setting up Skype calls and working with our daughter generally, which was very important given our ever-evolving travel schedule and the challenges of working across time zones. I highly recommend Eliza! -Lauri Union, Brookline, MA
“Eliza is amazing at grammar and really helped me understand it better. Eliza is great at helping me determine my thesis statements and then ‘pulling’ the key ideas out of my head.” -10th grade student, Milton Academy
